Scoil Bernadette, Cork host the annual Munster Swimming Gala at the Mayfield Sports Complex in March 2013. All Munster schools attend with the emphasis focusing on participation and encouraging swimmers of all levels of ability. Relay races and lane swims for better swimmers.
St. Joseph’s and St. Ita’s school, Tralee host the annual A and B girl’s basketball blitz in late October with the winners qualifying for the All Ireland tournament in March of 2013. All Munster schools send representatives at both A and B levels.
Following the difficulties schools were encountering in completing the home and away league fixtures a new initiative was launched with the Munster Outdoor Soccer in 2012. Held in Morton Stadium, Santry, Dublin in September and organised by Niall Price, Scoil Chiaran, Dublin. Events include 100m, 200m, 400, long jump and relays. Age groups are U.12, U.14, U.16 and U.18. Starts at 10.30am and finishes at 1.30pm. Prizes for top 3 finishers in every event plus goodie bag for all participants.
